Why Maintain?
Everyone knows that cars, HVAC systems, and mobile devices need regular maintenance and backups yet we ignore our small equipment systems like sprinklers. While irrigation systems might not seem demanding, they do require regular maintenance to reduce large costly repairs. Remember, sprinkler systems are located outside, year round, and go through many seasons of temperature changes, erosion and physical demand from cars, equipment, and high foot traffic. Listed are some of the important reasons to regularly maintain your system:
Reduce Overwatering
The most significant benefit of scheduling irrigation system maintenance is that you can protect your plants and your wallet from the effects of overwatering. If you neglect your system without a checkup, your sprinkler runtime can be affected, leading to two distinct issues.
- If the runtime is too short, your landscape will not get enough water leading to dry spots and slow growth.
- If your runtime is too long, your plants will get too much water leading to yellowing, puddle formation, and water runoff. When plants are overwatered, it makes them more susceptible to disease and mold. Additionally, overwatering can lead to quicker erosion and soil deterioration. Water bills can become demanding, especially through the summer heat. Have your system inspected for proper coverage and watering times, directly saving you lost money on your water bill.
Notice Replacement Needs
As a technician goes over each section of your irrigation system, they will note any segments that need to be replaced or repaired. If you don't have a full checkup, you may never notice that sections of your sprinklers are not working correctly. For instance, if a pipe has been severed, has a pin-hole leak, or one head in a zone is not functioning at full strength a technician can find these issues and repair them to provide proper water pressure and save wasted water and money.
Increase System Lifespan
When your irrigation system is properly cared for and maintained, the system will last much longer. If outdated or broken parts aren't repaired, it will cause problems to build, and eventually overwhelm the system. Not only does consistent maintenance make running the system more efficient and cost-effective, you'll also have to repair and replace less frequently.
Update to a "Smart System"
With technology constantly evolving, sprinkler and irrigation systems are no exception. We install WiFi Smart Systems when replacing controllers or installing new systems. Why have a Smart System installed?
- Controllers are cost efficient
- Controllers provide better operation of the system
- Diagnostic repairs take place quicker
- You can control system anywhere in the world!
